why do cats eat spider webs

I’ve noticed my cat keeps nibbling on spider webs around the house, and I’m curious why they do this. It seems odd because spider webs don’t look like food, and I’m worried it might be harmful. Is this a common behavior, or is my cat just being weird? Also, could there be a nutritional reason behind it, or is it purely curiosity?

I’ve read that cats might eat spider webs because the silk contains protein, and some cats are drawn to the texture or movement of the web. My own cat does this too, especially when she sees a web shimmering in the sunlight—it’s like a weird snack for her! Just keep an eye out to make sure she’s not ingesting any spiders, as some could be toxic.
